About Pink Friday

Pink Friday is an annual event, founded by one of the of the nation’s leading retailer group of consumer electronics and technology products, that turns Black Friday to “Pink Friday” in an effort to make the busiest shopping day of the holiday season the most charitable day as well.

The third annual Pink Friday fundraiser drive starts on the day traditionally known as Black Friday, November 27th, and runs through the end of the year. TigerDirect, Circuit City and CompUSA expect to donate more than $100,000 from total sales and donations in a cooperative effort for Susan G. Komen for the Cure fight against breast cancer.

TigerDirect.com, CircuitCity.com and CompUSA always offer amazing deals on electronics, and Pink Friday will be no exception. The retailers will donate a minimum of $100,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure and customers will have the opportunity to add $1, $5, $10 or $20 to their purchase as a donation in their name. “Pink Friday is all about giving back to the community,” said Gilbert Fiorentino, Chief Executive of Systemax Inc. Technology Products business, which includes CompUSA, CircuitCity and TigerDirect. “Between our donation and the opportunity for our customers to help assist us in this cause, we hope to raise even more money for Susan G. Komen than last year.”

The color pink represents more than just breast cancer awareness. It symbolizes the promise that Nancy G. Brinker made to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, to find a cure for this deadly disease. In 1982, that promise started the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and ignited the passion of millions to create a world without breast cancer. In recognition of this proud effort, all products and items sold on Pink Friday will be shipped in specially designed pink boxes. Additionally, the Komen pink ribbon will be promoted on all catalogs, newspaper advertisements, web banner advertising, store signs and incorporated into the participating retailers logo.

During Pink Friday, participating retailers will feature a live webcast from noon to midnight featuring product reviews, Q&A with audience, How-to tips and more. Live streaming will be powered by uStream.TV. The Pink Friday drive will take place on a variety of retailer websites and at select retail stores.

This year, close to 35,000 fewer women are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, according to data presented by the American Cancer Society (ACS). The decrease is attributed to earlier detection through screening, increased awareness, and improved treatments.
