Subject: Pink Friday – Shopping for a Cure

Dear Friend,

You know what I’ve been seeing a lot lately? Those pink-ribbon stickers on cars, with the word “Survivor” on the ribbon.

And I’ve seen far too many of them. My neighbors, my friends have all been affected by breast cancer. Ask any woman you meet if she knows anyone who’s had breast cancer and she’ll give you a list.

And now it’s my turn. My mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I’ll spare you the details of her illness, but I will say that I wish there was a cure. So I’m encouraged that TigerDirect and the All-New CompUSA is supporting Susan G. Komen for the cure. In fact, they’re extending it through the end of the year. Instead of just a month of awareness, now there’s three.

TigerDirect and the All-New CompUSA are changing “Black Friday” (retailers call the shopping day after Thanksgiving Black Friday) to “Pink Friday.” By shopping Tigerdirect.com or CompUSA.com from November 28th through December 31st, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the cure. And TigerDirect and the All-New CompUSA will be donating a minimum of $100,000 to the foundation. In addition, you will be able to make your own personal donation upon check out.

So this year, instead of just shopping, shop for a good cause…

We’re shooting for a quarter-million dollars in donations. With your help we’ll get there—and that means we can help save lives and end breast cancer forever.

I’d appreciate your help. And if you would, please forward this message to someone who you love.

You help is appreciated beyond words. Have a happy holiday. You can learn more here: http://www.pinkfriday.org

‘My Mother is a Breast Cancer Survivor’

Many individuals have a mother or other relative who has survived breast cancer – and it has touched more lives than you realize. Your friends are probably already aware, but let them know that this year – doing things they intend to do anyway – can help save someone else’s relative from succumbing to this horrible disease.

Subject: Breast Cancer has Touched my Life – and You Can make a difference

Dear Friend,

As the holiday season approaches, it’s time to count our blessings. And one of those blessings is that my mother survived breast cancer – a terrible disease that affects thousands and thousands of women across the world – and a cure is still not within our reach.

You have probably already started to hunt down the “Black Friday” deals that are starting to hit the newspapers and internet – but the day after Thanksgiving is much more to me this year.

TigerDirect and the All-New CompUSA are turning Black Friday into “Pink Friday” this year – and they has made a commitment to donate a minimum of $100,000 to Susan G. Komen for the cure – an organization formed by a woman who made a promise to her dying sister to try to help others survive breast cancer. On Pink Friday, TigerDirect and the All-New CompUSA will have a 9 hour live broadcast starting at 8AM through 5PM EST offering up the best deals – but it’s much more.

Through the end of 2008, TigerDirect and the All-New CompUSA will ship their orders in pink boxes, stuff them with pink packing peanuts, have a pink packing slip – and even more – our catalog, website and newspaper inserts are also turning pink – all in support of breast cancer. During the live broadcast, over $100,000 of products will be offered in limited quantities to individuals who make a donation equal to 50% of the ‘regular price’ of these items. Items like HDTVs, laptops and more. You can literally save over $500 on some of these products.

TigerDirect and the All-New CompUSA will continue these efforts through the end of the year – and you are going to be shopping anyway – so why not shop to make a difference?

Tune in to ComputerTV on 11/28/08 and help make a difference by doing something you are already going to do anyway – and save a bundle.

To learn more about Pink Friday, visit http://www.pinkfriday.org – and on 11/28/07, tune into http://com.puter.tv.
I wish you a very happy holiday season!

Send emails? Who doesn’t these days? Well, email is a GREAT way to spread the word about Pink Friday, without making a big fuss. It’s easy to do if you are using Outlook or Outlook Express, let us explain exactly how.

First of all, what’s it going to look like? Well, the image below is a sample of how the signature provided here will look once inserted into your emails.

How To: Outlook 2003 Users

First, download and save the Pink Friday Signature template at this link. (Right click, choose “Save Target As” and save to your desktop.)

In Outlook, choose “Tools” from your main menu, then “Options”. A screen like that shown here should appear.

From the Options Dialog Box, choose “Mail Format”

On the lower portion of the Dialog Box, choose “Signatures”. A new dialog box will appear as shown here.

Click on “NEW” to create a new signature. The following dialog box will appear.

Enter a new name for your signature, like ‘Pink Friday’ in Step 1.

Click to select “Use this file as a template:”

Click on “Browse” to choose the html file you previously saved on the desktop. (The filename is ‘pinkfriday_sig.htm’)

Click on “NEXT >” to continue.

A preview of your signature will appear in the window as shown below. You may add your name, phone number and email address to the top of the Signature by simply moving your cursor to the left, entering your information, then press “Enter” – this will truly make this signature your own.

When satisfied with your new signature, click “Finish” then “OK,” then “OK” again. This will return you to the main Outlook screen – and your signature is ready to use!

How to insert your signature in an email

When you are done composing an email – simply choose “Insert” “Signature” then choose your “Pink Friday” signature. It will be inserted ahead of your cursor. That’s it!

Now – you’ve learned another easy way to help spread the news – about Pink Friday!

NOTE: Examples and screenshots are shown using Office 2003. Your menu options may vary on other versions of Outlook or Outlook Express, however the procedure is basically the same.

Microsoft Office 2007 Users

We apologize for leaving out the increasing number of Outlook 2007 users. The procedure above will not work for Outlook 2007. Instead, the process involves a bit of a work around since the newest version of Outlook no longer provides a user interface to import a HTML signature template. The below procedure assumes you are using Windows XP as an operating system.

First, download and save the Pink Friday Signature template at this link. (Right click, choose “Save Target As” and save to your desktop.)

Double click on “My Computer”

Double click on the primary hard drive of the computer. (This is generally “C”.)

Open the Documents and Settings folder (Note: Vista users must navigate to the path Drive:\Users\User_Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Stationery and should skip ahead to copying your html files into the directory.)

Open the folder with your username, ex., “Randy”

Open the Application Data Folder (if this folder does not appear in your directory, use the View options to display ‘hidden folders.’)

Open the Microsoft folder

Open the Stationery folder

Copy your signature files (previously downloaded above) to the Stationery folder.

Open Outlook 2007

If you only wish to insert your new signature manually, you can do that by using the ‘Insert Signature’ command. (ALT-I S) then choose from the appropriate signatures displayed.

If you wish to make this your default signature, continue with the following procedure:

Choose Tools from the menu

Select “Options” in the drop down list

Select ‘Mail Format’

Select ‘Stationery and Fonts’

Email signature

Theme

from Choose a Theme, highlight to choose the appropriate signature file.

Click OK 3 times to return to the main Outlook screen.

Mozilla Thunderbird or Mozilla Suite Users

First, download and save the Pink Friday Signature template at this link. (Right click, choose “Save Target As” and save to your ‘My Documents’ folder.)

Next, Open Thunderbird

Choose “Tools” from the Menu, then “Account Settings” as shown here

Then, in the middle of the Account Setting Dialog Box, you will see a field “Attach this signature”. “Choose” button, navigate your way to your ‘My Documents’ folder and choose the file you previously downloaded and saved. The filename should be
pinkfriday_sig.htm
.

After selecting the file and clicking on ‘OK,’ you can then click on “OK” on the bottom of the Account Settings dialog box and your next new email message will promote our upcoming event -Pink Friday!
